Matrix Switch

Matrix Switches

Hearing the phrase “matrix switch”, most ordinary people can hardly imagine such a device. What does a matrix switcher look like? Where is it used? What is it for? Before starting the story about matrix switches, let’s explain what exactly this is.

When you watch a news broadcast on one of the many television channels, you pay attention to how quickly the stories on the screen change: first you see a TV presenter, then a report from the government building, followed by an advertising block. This effect is achieved using the switch: the video and audio information is switched from different sources to one. This is the situation on television, but in dispatching, situational centers, control centers, it is often necessary to change not only information sources, but also its receivers during broadcasting. The fact is that here it is often necessary to display a separate image on each of the many screens. It is in such cases that the use of matrix switches is justified. The matrix switcher is able to send a signal to any output from any input. Like traditional switches, matrix units can group video with sound. Often matrix switches are also used in more complex situations when it is necessary to distribute not only sound and video sequences, but also control codes, signals from sensors and video surveillance cameras.

, like its traditional counterparts, it switches the image with a quenching frame pulse, avoiding undermining the picture, and the sound is synchronized at zero point to avoid clicks in the speakers. Some models of matrix communicators are equipped with auto-fading: this option contributes to a smooth decrease before switching and increase after it the brightness and volume.
